Recently, it is often said that legal documents can be translated by machine translation without fail, and we have heard a lot of stories that the machine-translated legal documents were being used in the actual business. However, it is almost impossible to translated accurately without knowing the background of the documents or the business itself. In addition, wrong translation of just one part could change the meaning of the whole sentence completely, which leads to unexpected risk afterwards. I have some experiences using machine translation when I was working in a legal department in a company, and yes, it SEEMS that the translation is accurate and natural enough, but in my opinion, it still needs to be revised by human with legal expertise before the actual use. The proof is that many law firms are still using human translation.

We will provide truly accurate translation with understanding the background knowledge of how the documents will be used, of course without using any machine translation, so that customers could negotiate with the other side knowing that the documents are translated accurately.

Consulting for Contract Management System

Basic Training on Contracts (Japanese Only)

Tokin Legal Translation Office offers an internal training service on how to read contracts for non-legal departments which actually do in accordance with the contract.

Contracts provides the conditions for business, and it is meaningless, or even risky, if the department in charge of operation does not understand what are provided in the contract.

The training course aims to make employees in such department (who rarely read contracts and completed depending on the legal department regarding contract matters) understand (i) the meaning each clause has, and (ii) what is actually decided by such clause.

These courses are to be provided irregularly, while we welcome any request to make training materials customized to best suit your company’s situation.

Non-Legal Support for Legal Department

It is often the case that there are so much non-legal administrative works that the internal legal resource cannot be allocated for proper legal works, and even though those works are just administrative, it is desirable to outsource such works to someone with some legal knowledge and background.

To the extent permitted by laws and regulations, Tokin Legal Translation Office supports such non-legal administrative works so the internal legal resource is properly allocated to actual legal works.
