MESSAGE

Nice to e-meet you! My name is Shingo Tokin, the representative translator of Tokin Legal Translation Office.

As a brief self-introduction, I studied abroad in the University of California, Irvine (Sociology major) while I was in Tsuru University in Japan for one academic year, and there, I shared a room with a local student from San Francisco, and lived in a dormitory during my stay. Half of the students living in the dorm were local students, which was great opportunity for me to come into contact with practical English and to brush up my English skills dramatically. And above all, I was blessed with excellent friends, and I am still in contact with some of them, keeping a long-term wonderful relationship.

After graduation from my University in Japan, I worked for a translation company as a translation job coordinator for two (2) years, and experienced a lot of translation works of various kinds of documents (tourism, marketing materials, IT, websites, brochures, manuals, machine, etc.), listening to the customer’s voice to know their true needs in translation. To become a legal expert translator, I worked for some companies (including trading company, automotive parts manufacturer and CRO, and the latter two are listed in the first section of Tokyo Stock Exchange market) as a legal staff for a total of nine (9) years, where I dealt with so much English contracts as well as other legal documents.

During these time of working as a legal staff, to improve my English skills, I have got certified as the 1st Grade of Practical English Proficiency Test. Also, I passed the examination to be a Certified Administrative Procedures Legal Specialist (Gyosei-shoshi) and The CCI Japan Business Law Examination (Grade 1). With these certification and working as a legal staff in a real business, I am confident that I have accumulated enough experiences that are required to be a competent legal translator. Especially considering that my experiences above as a legal staff, I believe that I could be more helpful to customers, knowing for what purpose and in which situation the subject documents are to be used.

I promise I will do my best to satisfy all the customer’s needs.

I will take each word very seriously, and never stop learning so that I could provide more accurate translations than anyone else could provide.
